Portfolio Review with Eleni Mouzakiti

Kavala Photo Club, within the framework of the events "Photography Week 2022 / Kavala Photo Week, has put up an open call for portfolio reviews to up-and-coming photographers. The portfolio reviews will be carried out by the guest of the festival, Eleni Mouzakiti.

PARTICIPATION COST: 20 EUROS.

  • Participants should have up to thirty (30 printed photos that constitute or form a part of a photography project.
  • The meetings will take place on the 1st floor of the Great Club of Kavala, on Sunday October 2nd 10:00 - 12:00, and Monday October 3rd 18:00-21:00.
  • Apply (first 6 applicants) with a short CV and a brief description of your photographic work.
Portfolio Review

Eleni Mouzakiti is a visual artist, educator for Art Photography Practice and Theory, and curator of photographic exhibitions and publications.

She studied German Language and Literature at the University of FU Berlin and Ruprecht-Karl University of Heidelberg. She holds an MA in Image and Communication from Goldsmiths College, University of London and a PhD in Arts and Humanities with a specialization in Photography as an Art Practice from Derby University, UK, Eleni was a fellow of the State Scholarship Foundation, the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation and the DAAD -German Academic Exchange Service.

Her photographic work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions and festivals internationally. Her portfolios have been published in various magazines, newspapers, platforms, group and solo exhibition catalogues.

Her works belong to the collection of the Portland Museum of Art, Oregon, USA, the Museum of Photography of Thessaloniki, the State Museum of Contemporary Art, the ACG Art Collection and other private collections.

Eleni has designed and taught the Photography courses at the Department of Visual Arts and Art Sciences of the Ioannina University, Greece (2002 - 2006) and the courses Creative Photography I & II at the Hellenic Center for Photography (2013-2016). From 2016 to 2018 she taught in the adult education program in photography of the Athens School of Fine Arts and from 2018 she teaches in the postgraduate program - MA in Photography and Visual Language - of AKTO / Middlesex University, UK. She coordinated the production and curated numerous photography exhibitions and publications.

She is a founding member of The Provinces, a platform for photographers that collects and promotes photographic projects that deal with the Greek periphery.

She is also a founding member of Indexical: Photography and Theory Hub.

Committed to long- term projects in her artistic work she focuses on issues of 'absorptive' behavior in the public realm, leisure time geography, landscape as a fantasy of “belonging”, memory and history.
